Most employees in Ontario become entitled to overtime after the standard weekly threshold of 44 hours, paid at 1.5×. Enter your hourly rate and hours worked to estimate gross overtime and what may remain after income tax, CPP, and EI.

Standard overtime in Ontario

Most Ontario employees earn time-and-a-half after 44 hours in a work week. There is no general daily overtime threshold.

After-tax overtime

The tax estimate annualizes the pay period you enter and runs the Ontario payroll calculation twice — with overtime and without it. The difference is how much of the overtime this calculator thinks you keep. Employer withholding on one cheque can still differ.

Exemptions and contracts

Many jobs are exempt or have a higher threshold under ESA Regulation 285/01. Hours can be averaged over up to four weeks if there is a written agreement. Collective agreements and employment contracts can also set a different (usually more generous) overtime premium.
